How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Overview

Upper Room Baptist Church ("URBC", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information the URBC Mobile App and this website collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information you provide to us:

  • Account details — full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and the parish or ministry you belong to.
  • Profile photo — if you choose to add one.
  • Sign-in credentials — passwords are stored only in encrypted, hashed form and are never readable by us.
  • Content you submit — prayer requests, testimonies and Bible study comments that you choose to share through the app.
  • Device information — a push notification token and a device identifier.
  • Payment records — your giving and subscription history. Card numbers are entered on the payment provider's own secure checkout and are never received or stored by us.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account and sign-in security
  • Deliver devotionals, sermons, events and church news to you
  • Process giving and membership subscriptions
  • Send you push notifications you have chosen to receive
  • Respond to prayer requests, testimonies and support requests
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the app

Who We Share It With

We keep your information to ourselves and share it only with:

  • Our payment providers (Paystack and Flutterwave), solely to process payments you initiate
  • Our hosting and email service providers
  • Church leadership, where required to fulfil a pastoral, legal or safeguarding obligation

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or tracking networks.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

You may, at any time:

  • Update your name, phone number or profile photo in the app
  • Turn off push notifications in your device settings
  • Delete your account at any time from Profile → Account
  • Request a copy of the information we hold about you

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only for as long as needed to operate the app, meet our pastoral and record-keeping obligations, and resolve disputes.

Security

We use HTTPS in transit, hashed passwords, role-based access controls for staff, and a dedicated sign-in code tied to your registered device to protect your account.

Children

The app is intended for members of our church community aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
